Uses

Somatropin is a human growth hormone analog that replaces natural growth hormone in the body. CinnaTropin is indicated for the treatment of various conditions in both children and adults:

• Growth hormone deficiency: In children and adults who have inadequate secretion of natural growth hormone.
• Chronic kidney disease: To treat growth failure in pediatric patients.
• Turner syndrome: A genetic condition in females that can cause short stature.
• Short stature homeobox-containing gene (SHOX) deficiency: To treat short stature.
• Short stature: In children born small for gestational age who do not show catch-up growth by age 4 or later.
• Idiopathic short stature (ISS): Unexplained shortness in children.
• Prader-Willi syndrome: A genetic disorder.
• HIV-associated wasting: To increase body weight and endurance in people with HIV.

Dosage and Administration

The medication is available in a pre-filled pen containing 5 mg/1.5 ml of somatropin. It is administered via subcutaneous injection (under the skin). The dosage and frequency of injections depend on the condition being treated and the patient's body weight, and should always be determined by a doctor

Side Effects

Common side effects may include headache, muscle or joint pain, and skin reactions at the injection site. More serious but rare side effects can include increased intracranial pressure, high blood sugar levels, or allergic reactions.
